We have a new GLS leader! Elaine E. led a group up Los Leones in the Santa Monica Mountains Palisades area on Saturday, August 5 and showed the skills one needs to be a Sierra Club leader.
We had hot temperatures, so Elaine made sure we left early and she also had to trim the hike’s distance a bit. She kept an eye on how everyone was feeling and when one of the hikers seemed tired and not able to do the full distance, Elaine made the executive decision to turn around. On our way back down to the cars, we came upon another hiker (not in our group) who had fallen and cut her face. Elaine asked two in our group to manage the trail traffic while some of us used our First Aid skills.
