Led by Jen Dooley and Nancy Beverly

There’s something about knowing that you’re going to get out on one of your favorite sections of trail that just puts a person in a good mood. I had been looking forward to leading this hike again ever since we did it last year, and the day did not disappoint.

We had a pleasant group of 11 hikers for the day. Starting out from Three Points, we crossed an area alongside the road where a contractor was doing vegetation management. That spot looked quite different with all the brushy vegetation trimmed down!

It was a slightly warm day as we made our way along, but we noted the last bits of snow clinging to the north slopes of Mt. Waterman. Of course, we paused at Camp Glenwood both on our way out and back, because who doesn’t love picnic tables!

Poodledog bush by the trail, not yet in bloom. Watch out! Photo Nancy Beverly.

The poodle-dog bush that last year was pretty intense east of Glenwood was significantly reduced this year. It’s been over four years since the Bobcat Fire went through that area, and the dominant native vegetation is definitely hard at work pushing out the poisonous plant…yay! All in all, we covered 10.4 miles and 1,700 feet of gain/loss.

Also, thanks to Nancy Beverly for being an awesome co-lead!

What a great day’s stroll in the woods!
