Sierra Club Members in Attendance
Tammie Barta, Jeff Johnson, Jen Dooley, Tom Molloy, Jeff Bates
Item 1 – Finances
Tammie reported that the only financial news is that checks have been coming in for Alan’s mule pack trip and Anna’s car camping trip. Currently, the monies collected only go to cover costs, and the trips are not fundraisers for GLS. For example, the mule pack fees are still going toward paying off the equipment that was purchased by GLS for use on official outings. If we decide to run trips that are meant to be fundraisers, we will need to determine how/if we need to report the funds to the Angeles Chapter.
Item 2 – Tracks
The goal for the newsletter is to transition it completely to glstracks.org at the end of the year. Articles will continue to be posted every two months. Tom and Jeff Bates will review the links on glstracks.org and note any expired or incorrect links so these can be updated. Tammie edits GLS’s official Sierra Club page. We will most likely maintain minimal content there and link back to glstracks.org.
Item 3 – Old Financial Records
Grace gave Jeff Johnson a box of GLS financial records from the 1990s. We determined that it does not contain documents with historical value to the group. Jeff will have the contents shredded and disposed of.
Item 4 – Holiday Party
The holiday party will be scheduled on December 2, 2023. A location has yet to be determined, and suggestions are welcome. Ideally, the location would have ample parking, nearby hiking, tables, protection from rain, and be somewhat centrally located.
Item 5 – July/August Outings
Both Jeff Johnson and Nancy will be very busy this summer. We need leaders to plan and schedule hikes to make sure we have a nice outings calendar this summer.
Item 6 – Management Committee Elections
Three positions are up for election this year. Anyone who would like to serve on the committee is urged to consider running for a seat!
The next management committee meeting is scheduled for July 5, 2023 at 7pm.
