GLS Management Committee Meeting, May 13, 2025

Sierra Club Members in Attendance:

Jeff Johnson, Jen Dooley, Nancy Beverly, Jeff Bates

Item 1 – Holiday Party

It is time to look into locations. Some ideas were floated, such as the community room at Griffith Park. Nancy B. to look into it.

Item 2 – Elections

Jen, Jeff J., and Tom M. are up for re-election this year.

Item 3 – Volunteer leader briefing

Nancy attended this via Zoom. She relayed the following:
* Due to a downturn in funding, the Sierra Club is looking to downsize its staff.
* The club has had some recent success with getting more mid-level donors.
* The club is developing a “tool kit” to contact representatives to support public lands.

Item 4 – GLS website

Jeff wants to sit down with Tammie to update some things on the website.

Item 5 – Management Committee Recruitment

Jeff to write a bullet point list about what a management committee member does since he is considering turning over the reins.

Item 6 – New leader evaluations

Nancy is looking to train someone to evaluate new leaders. Jen volunteered to train for this responsibility. Would also be good to have another person as well.

Next meeting

The next management committee meeting is scheduled for July 17th at 7pm.
