If you were hiking with GLS in the mid-1990s, you may recall these interesting weekend hikes, as reported by long-time GLS leader Susan (Lucille) Campo in the May/June 1996 issue of GLS TRACKS.
One of my very favorite things in my 20-whatever years of being GLS TRACKS editor has been getting a trip report from Susan. Always written in her spontaneous and positive style, and produced rapidly after the outing.
So I was tickled to find this time capsule in the archives, Susan’s original handwritten trip report from 30 years ago that was sent to Shawn Keene, the TRACKS editor then, for the May/June 1996 issue.
If you can remember back as far as 1996, you’ll recall that word processing was not yet ubiquitous. Some people were able to sit down with a pad of paper and write things on the front and back of a page, then edit it right there!
